REGAN PESCHEL:
THE COOK BEHIND TAPER
“A plate filled with intention becomes a palette of healing.” – Unknown
Hello, and welcome.
I’m Regan — a fourth-generation Montanan, classically trained chef, and reiki master based in Whitefish.
After spending more than 20 years working long hours in the corporate world in the tech industry, I followed my heart to attend culinary school at The International Culinary Center in NYC in their 'Farm Powered Kitchen' program. I was trained in classical French cuisine while studying curriculum on regenerative agriculture created by Blue Hill Farm and Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture in upstate New York.
My approach to food is simple: high quality ingredients carry energy, and where they come from matters. I cook with seasonal, local ingredients whenever possible, partnering with Montana farms, ranchers, and purveyors who care deeply for the land. When local sourcing isn’t available, I work with trusted partners who source as close to home as possible. (Shout out to Wicked Good Produce!)
I've also been an intuitive energy healer and certified Reiki Master since 2006. The intersection of culinary craft and energy healing is what truly inspires me. I believe a thoughtfully prepared meal nourishes more than the body — it supports clarity, healing, balance, and well-being. The energy that goes into cooking your food is something that inpires me. I cook with intention and healing in mind.
Taper was born from my own need during my corporate years. I loved high quality local foods and cooking, but long hours made it impossible to shop and prepare meals the way I wanted. I wished for someone I trusted to source responsibly and cook healthy and beautifully cooked meals on my behalf that would show up on my doorstep after a long work day. So I became that person for others.
The name Taper honors my grandmother, Helen, founder of The Candlewick (Taper is a long skinny candle and my nod to her) in downtown Whitefish — one of the area’s early female-owned businesses. The Candlewick was a homegoods and cooking goods gift store. Her love of cooking, entrepreneurship, and community continues to light the way for me.
My hope is to offer you simple, nourishing, creative meals each week — so you can focus on your life, the people you love, and persuing what brings you joy while knowing your food is prepared with intention, integrity, and heart.
Regan owned and operated her own intuitive energy healing practice and has been a certified Reiki Master for over 20 years.
Regan’s grandmother’s store, The Candlewick, in downtown Whitefish (at the current Tailwaggers location) is the namesake of Taper founded in 1966 which carried beautiful home and cooking goods.
