FAQ
Am I in your delivery range?
We can only sell subscriptions to homes within our delivery range at this time. Please refer to this map to see if your address is located within this area. If you fall outside of this delivery area you do have the option to have your food delivered to an address within the delivery map and you may pick up your food there. If you live outside the delivery range and are still interested in purchasing a subscription please text me directly so I can offer you a potential alternate solution.
Do you offer dinners on other nights than Tuesday and Thursday?
Unfortunately, no - we only offer meals on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Because the meals are packaged professionally in oven-safe and refrigerator/freezer-safe containers you can always keep the meal in the refrigerator to use/reheat within 5 days of delivery or you can freeze for a later date.
Do you offer substitutions?
Not at this time. As much as I'd love to offer substitutions our business is very small and unable to accomodate them at this time. While your monthly subscription cost will always stay the same, if you decide you don't want to order a dish on a certain night you will not be charged for that meal.
What if I have allerigies?
Depending on the allergy this may or may not be the right meal service for you. Currently we will cook with dairy, fish, peanuts, wheat, soy beans, eggs, gluten and shellfish. If you have strict dietary allergies this may not be the right meal delivery service since there is only one meal option per night. As much as I'd love to offer alternate versions of my nightly meals it is not available at the current time. Hopefully in the future!
What if I'm not home when you deliver my meals?
As long as your cooler is on your porch we will deliver your meals. We will leave the meals with an new ice pack that you can leave in the cooler for us to collect and refreeze for you each delivery night. If you prefer to share garage door codes, front door entry, spare keys for us to put your food directly into your fridges for you we are happy to do this as well.
Do you offer desserts?
Short answer: not regularly. I hope to offer homemade desserts from time to time using seasonal ingredients. When I have time to make desserts I will offer them in the online menu and you'll be able to add them to your weekly order. Desserts will be first come first serve.
Do you cater parties or dinner parties
Unfortnately, no. I am licencened for a commercial kitchen and not licenced for catering and at this time have no plans to shift from the subscription model to catering model. Please text me if you need any catering reccomendations. There are very talented local companies I am happy to reccommend!
Are the subscriptions monthly, quarterly or yearly?
Subscriptions are offered monthly and quarterly. Monthly subscriptions auto renew on the last evening of every month unless you cancel first. Quarterly subscriptions renew the final night of the three month quarter period unless you cancel first. Quartlerly subscriptions are offered at a slight discount compared to monthly subscriptions. At this time yearly subscriptions are not available but we hope to offer them in year two.
Is there a maximum number of meals I can buy each night?
Yes, the subscription allows for each household to buy up to 2 meals/person per household. For example if you are a family of 4 you could purchase 2 meals per person each night (8 meals total). Unfortunately, we don't have the bandwidth to cook meals at scale across all memberships within Taper.
What if I go out of town for a week?
You are welcome to skip that week by simply not placing your weekly order. You obviously not be charged for meals you do not order that week. Your monthly subscription cost does not change and will be charged in full regardless of the number of meals you order each week however.
What if I go out of town for a month?
Each subscription allows for one free 'hold' per calendar year. If you put your subscription on hold for a particular month you will not lose your subscription. Alternatively, if you decide to not renew your subsciption (for example, you decide to subscribe June, July and August but decide not to subscribe after that, it's simliar to a CSA subscription - we will open the subscription pool to the next person in line and they can keep that subscription as long as they like. You will be added back to the waitlist at that point.
Do you offer cooking classes?
Yes! I will be offering kids and adults cooking classes. Times and cadence tbd. Feel free to sign up for my newsletter or SMS messaging to stay in the loop on future cooking classes.
Do you offer separate kid friendly nightly meals?
Unfortunately, not at this time. As much as I'd love to add a separate kid friendly option in addition to my nightly meal options, at this time I won't have the bandwidth to offer two meal options per night. I am passionate about cooking healthy kids meals, however, so I hope to explore this option in year two. Obviously, you may purchase the current nightly offerings for your kiddos as is.
Is Taper Right for Me?
ABSOLUTELY
NOT A GOOD FIT
I prioritize shopping and cooking with locally sourced ingredients but don’t have time to do this seven nights a week.
I prefer the bulk of what I eat/feed my family to be organic and thoughtfully sourced.
I don’t have time to cook and would prefer my meals are fully prepared and all I have to do is reheat them (e.g. not a meal kit where I do the cooking).
I am too busy to pick up my meals and would like them delivered to my front door.
I live inside the Whitefish delivery range. Check this map to confirm.
I am open to a wide range of cooking types/styles (American, Mexican, Thai, Latin American, French, Indian, etc.)
I have a food allergy (e.g. gluten, nuts, dairy, or shellfish).
I eat a strict keto diet (I eat little to no carbs).
I am a vegan and do not eat any meat, poultry, or fish.
I would like to have several meal options each evening.
I would like the flexibility to make substitutions in my nightly meals.
I have kids and would like a separate kid-friendly option each evening; e.g. mac & cheese, chicken nugget, kids vegetables.
